Davidsonville is a semi-rural community located in central Anne Arundel County, just 13 miles from Annapolis. Davidsonville has a rich history and was developed by European settlers in the 17th and 18th century with farms and plantations, some of which still exist today. The Anne Arundel Free School is on the National Register of Historic Places and located in Davidsonville. It is thought to be the oldest existing school house mandated by the colonial government and believed to have influenced John Hopkins who was likely a student at the school in the 19th century.
